Saving Money on Your Next Project

These days people just arent spending money like they used to. Here are a few ways to save money and still get a quality project.

Dont skimp on the important things. Correct and properly functioning plumbing, heating, and electrical systems are very important. Even though you dont see these things, upgrading (when necessary) is money well spent. Its much easier to upgrade your toilet then the plumbing going to it.

The kitchen sink. Sinks are relatively easy to swap out after a project has been completed. Maybe you can wait on that "one-of-a-kind" sink from Outer Mongolia and live with a more inexpensive one for awhile.

Kitchen backsplashes are another item. They really dress up that new kitchen but can easily be installed later.

Forego the Granite. Laminate countertops are a great way to save money on your next kitchen. Laminate has come along way in the past ten years. many styles emulate granite at half the price.

In your bathroom you can forego the shower door and go with a shower curtain. Dont go cheap on the tub though. Its one of the first things to go in and is not easily changed out.

Hollow core interior doors will provide you with the privacy you need at about less than half the price of wood doors.

Save those floors. You'd be surprised what some of the hardwood floors pictured on this site looked like before we got to them. many times its cheaper to repair an area and refinish the rest as opposed to redoing a whole floor.

Light fixtures are another one. In most cases new fixtures can easily be swapped out at anytime.
